Manchester United have signed young left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord. Tyrell comes as a surprise first signing for Manchester United. Among all the names linked to Man United in recent times, Malacia would’ve been the least favorite when it comes to bookies. This was a rather unexpected acquisition considering there were at least 3 other priority positions to be filled – midfield, center back, and a forward.
Having said that, Man United fans are still delighted to have added another young prospect to their ranks. What excites United fans about this signing more than anything else is the fact that Erik Ten Hag likes him. Yes, that’s right. That’s all it takes now. Erik Ten Hag is already a popular figure amongst fans considering 82% of United fans wanted him to succeed Ralf Ragnick as the permanent manager over Mauricio Pochettino.
Even though Left back was not a priority position to fill, it has to be said that it’s always best to have quality in depth. Luke Shaw has been a steady option at Left Back in the last few seasons but has failed to cement the position over a consistent period of time. And it’s safe to say that Alex Telles is not the answer to the position.
Tyrell is 22 now. Not as young as you might have thought. But still young enough to develop into a quality left back. He’s highly rated in the Dutch League. Yes. I know it’s the Dutch League. But as long as the manager thinks he’s the answer, I would be happy to back him all the way.
